Day 54: huge bags of donated clothes Thank you, Lord. Today, my family was blessed with two huge bags stuffed with clothes. A lady who is friends with one of dad's employees passed them on to me and my family. Those bags were stuffed with all types of clothes and shoes. For the longest time I have wanted this specific type of shirt and shoes. Guess what I found in the bag? That exact type of shirt and shoes. Both happened to fit perfectly. Lord, YOU Are so good to me. YOU have blessed me tremendously. I did not need that shirt or those shoes, but YOU blessed me with it. Thank you. So very much. Day 53: M&Ms Thank you so much for the company that makes M&Ms! They are amazing. M&Ms are my absolute favorite candy. Recently, I was given a bag of M&Ms. It has been absolutely fantastic to have. M&Ms are so good and they make me really happy. The M&Ms company is really creative. They have made so many different types of M&Ms: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, pretzel, strawberry, peanut butter, peanut... And all in all types of colors. Thanks!

Day 52: Diaries and Journals Thank you, Jesus, for my many diaries and journals. Recently, I've been going through them. It's interesting to read how I viewed life when I was really little. I was homeschooled, so I had a lot of time to write in my diary. I wrote about every day; at least four times a week. There were a lot of issues that were really important to me back then that aren't so important now. As I read through them, I saw how I had changed. In my handwriting, spelling, life issues, views, and the way I wrote. I saw that more important things became my top priorities. I saw people in my life come and go. I was reminded of things that happened in my life that I would have otherwise forgotten. Diaries and journals are great things to have. Every weeknight in 7th grade I wrote what happened that day. Mainly, I just vented as I wrote. I was reminded of inside jokes, things that were funny to me then, and much more. I am so glad I kept a journal. Now, instead of writing in a journal, I try to write my prayers every night. I'll tell what major things happened that day and just pray. It's nice to have my quiet time with YOU, Lord. Thank you.

Day 46: Google Thank you so much for the people that created google. We are so blessed because of their creativity. Google saves time for all its users. If google shut down, our world would be a mess. No one would know how to cope. People google things all the time. Whether it be for directions, recipes, instructions, definitions, how-to's, or safety tips; there are always multiple answers for what your looking for. Google is super helpful, especially for projects. In my economics class, we are doing a project in which I'm running for president. I have to give a speech, write two papers, lower the deficit, assemble my cabinet, create a poster, and hold a press conference. There are so many government jobs that I have no idea what most of them do. Thankfully, I have google to provide me with information that will help me with my project. Thank you for google. Day 41: the first amendment Thank you, Lord, that I live in a country where I have the freedom of speech, petition, press, and religion. There are so many countries where it is illegal to say YOUR name. It breaks my heart that there are so many people who don't know YOU who live in those countries. It inspires me that there are a lot of people who, amidst the struggles, attempt to meet secretly and talk and believe in YOU. Such bravery! It stretches me. Would I be brave enough to meet secretly, go against the law, and risk my life to hear of YOU? That answer should be yes. However, it is easier said than done. I wish I had the bravery to let my answer be yes. I am so thankful that I live in a country where I have the freedom to talk about YOU in public. I have the right to choose what I believe in. It's called the right of religion, but YOU are not a religion. YOU are God. YOU are love. Thank you that I was born in America where I have this freedom. It really is a blessing, and I take it for granted. There are so many people around the world who don't have this right. They are told to remain silent or be killed. Those who speak out become martyrs. Martyrs really inspire me. I am truly thankful that I don't have to worry as much about being killed for my faith, but a lot of times I wish I was stretched like that. It makes me think. Do I have that type of courage? A few years ago, I read "She Said Yes." it's the story about a girl named Cassie in the columbine shootings. A guy held a gun up to her and said, "do you believe in God?" She said yes. Because of her answer, her life was taken from her. Ever since then, I've thought... What would I say? Yes, I believe in YOU, and I'd want to say yes. It would be so hard. Knowing what would happen. All the pressure. Deny YOU and live? Or accept YOU and die? Lord, give me strength! Let me be pushed forward in my relationship with YOU. Strengthen me. Give me a desire to live and love more radically.

Day 40: the moon Thank you, Lord, for the moon. To me, it reminds me of YOU and is a good reminder that YOU are always there. The moon is always in the sky and is always visible. Night or day, 24/7. It shines brightest when the sky is darkest. No matter where we go, it's always right there with us. It always seems super close and it never seems really far away. Lord, YOU can be seen in anything. During the day, everything around us, creation, people... Everything glorifies YOU. At night, the stars, the animals, the moon... Everything glorifies YOU. No matter where we go, how far we travel away from YOU, what direction we turn, YOU are always right there. YOU'RE there with open arms, ready for us to run back to YOU. YOU never move away from us. It is us who move away from YOU. YOU'RE always there. Lord, we see YOU when things are dark. YOU shine bright when our lives seem dark and full of sin. YOU penetrate through the darkness and rescue us. YOUR glory lights up the world. YOU are always with us. YOU always love us. Thank you for the moon. It gives light to the darkest nights. It is so beautiful and is a reminder that YOU are there. Some nights, it's nice to just look out my at the moon. It's relaxing to me, especially when I'm sad or stressed out. YOU are always there to talk and listen to us. Thank you, Lord.

Day 38: My Bed Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with a bed to sleep in at night. For so long, I have taken my bed for granted. I've always thought that everyone has a bed. That everyone feels comfortable and safe at night when they sleep. On my trip to Haiti, my eyes were opened to the reality that not everyone is as blessed as I am. The first night I was in Haiti, I loved my bed, which was a cot. I was always so tired at night that I would just crash the moment my head hit the pillow. Outside of where we stayed, most of the houses were made from tarps, pieces of scrap metal that was found, or stones. They slept on the floor, the entire family lived and slept in that tiny home. We visited an orphanage in Barbincore to pass out pillowcase dresses and stuffed animals to the children. Their faces lit up the moment they saw us walk in. We gave each girl a dress and each boy a stuffed animal. After we passed out the goodies, the children began to try and communicate with us. One girl came up to me and tugged on my skirt. She was saying something in Creole that I couldn't quite make out. I got Abby Hansen to come over and interpret. Abby said that the little girl was saying the word "bed." I looked at the little girl. She had a huge smile on her face. Her expression was that of a small child that was saying, "look at what I have!!" I looked in the direction she was pointing. She was pointing at a mattress. Or what was left of a mattress. She was so proud! It was as if she was telling me, "Look! Look at where I get to sleep! I have a bed!" She wasn't the only girl who was sleeping on that mattress. I'm not exactly sure who else slept on there, but it was the only real bed that the orphanage had. It was Haiti's finest. The mattress was on top of a stage-type thing. When we walked in, I thought it was just a part of a pile of junk. But it turned out to be the most precious thing they had. That experience was a huge reality check for me. In America, there are so many different companies that sell mattresses.

Day 37: chai tea lattes I am not a tea person. However, there is a tea latte that I absolutely adore. It's the chai latte. Thank you so much for the chai tea latte! Some days, after school, I'll come home and make myself a chai latte. For some reason, it's a really comforting drink after a long day. It's warm, yummy, and tea-e-ish. My mom always blends mix for us to stir into our tea to make the latte. It's the best thing! It seems as though we never run out. Thank you so much for the chai latte. For one of my comfort drinks. For one of the things that make me smile. Little things are the best things in life. I am easily amused, easily entertained, and easily attached to new foods/drinks. Thanks for creating me this way! Thanks for blessing me with little things that add joy to my day. When I think about it... In my bad days, there are so many positives about it. There's no reason for a day to be bad most times. When I add up the little things, they seem to outweigh the bad. Sure, some days get me down... But YOU never cease to pick me back up. YOU are always there. Always caring. Always listening. Day 36: superbowl Thanks for the superbowl. For the past three years, Ashlyn and I have chosen the winning team. It has been pretty exciting, considering that we chose them basing our choice off of the majority. We chose the least popular team or the team that had the lesser amount of people routing for them in the house. This year, however, we chose the most popular in the house. The New York Giants. Oh yeah! They are actually a really good team. It seems like I learn the most football when I watch the superbowl. I'm actually learning! Thanks for the superbowl. Day 34: basketball games Thank you, Lord, for basketball games! GCS vs. Flame basketball games are the best! The excitement, energy, and intenseness of the game is so exciting! Tonight I went to GCS's homecoming vs the Life Action Flames . The game was pretty close! It was really fun to hang out, cheer super loud, and watch a great game of basketball with some really good friends. Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with such amazing friends! My hands got red and hot from clapping so hard and my throat hurts from screaming really loud, but was all worth it! I know most of the people on both teams, so it makes it even more exciting to watch when they play against each other. Both are very good teams, so it's pretty intense! Thanks for basketball games! Day 33: my water bottle Thank you, Lord for my water bottle. It holds clean, cold water. God, we are so fortunate to be blessed with an abundant supply of water. Especially cold water. Day 32: home videos Thank you so much for the man who created the video camera. The one who had the idea of sticking cassette like tape things inside the camera to begin recording on it. They're super out of technology-fashion, but it was how my family was recorded. We've been trying and trying to convert them to DVDs. Tonight, we put the tapes into the camera and plugged the camera into the TV. We were able to watch our un-converted to DVD videos on the TV. It was pretty exciting! It was fun to watch Ashlyn as a toddler, walking around, what is now my room, playing house. I still have yet to see me and Ally as toddlers, but it's still exciting to see us all as kids. I got to see some of the Christmas plays that have been preformed at CEFC and at my own house, Ally cleaning the bathroom while explaining in a crazy accent, Ashlyn and CrossFire rocking out in the garage, and other skits and Christmases. It's amazing to think about how life has flown by. I've only been alive for 15years and 16weeks today, but so much has happened in such a short time. I am so thankful for my life. Home videos have shown me just how me and my family members have grown and matured. We have changed so much.... Thank you, JESUS! Thank you so much for all of the events, moments, and feelings that have shaped me into who I am today. I wouldn't be the same person I am if even just one of those hadn't happened. Everything happens for a reason, has its purpose, and will be worked together for good. Thank you. Home videos remind us of this. They remind us of how great life has been. How the times have changed. How we have changed. Inspire us to make changes. And remind us of what you have done to make us who we are. Every little action, every little word, every little feeling... It all has it's purpose. Wether it affects your life or the people's around you. God, help all my actions, all my words, all my feelings toward others... All glorify YOU. Day 32: home videos Thank you so much for the man who created the video camera. The one who had the idea of sticking cassette like tape things inside the camera to begin recording on it. They're super out of technology-fashion, but it was how my family was recorded. We've been trying and trying to convert them to DVDs. Tonight, we put the tapes into the camera and plugged the camera into the TV. We were able to watch our un-converted to DVD videos on the TV. It was pretty exciting! It was fun to watch Ashlyn as a toddler, walking around, what is now my room, playing house. I still have yet to see me and Ally as toddlers, but it's still exciting to see us all as kids. I got to see some of the Christmas plays that have been preformed at CEFC and at my own house, Ally cleaning the bathroom while explaining in a crazy accent, Ashlyn and CrossFire rocking out in the garage, and other skits and Christmases. It's amazing to think about how life has flown by. I've only been alive for 15years and 16weeks today, but so much has happened in such a short time. I am so thankful for my life. Home videos have shown me just how me and my family members have grown and matured. We have changed so much.... Thank you, JESUS! Thank you so much for all of the events, moments, and feelings that have shaped me into who I am today. I wouldn't be the same person I am if even just one of those hadn't happened. Everything happens for a reason, has its purpose, and will be worked together for good. Thank you. Home videos remind us of this. They remind us of how great life has been. How the times have changed. How we have changed. Inspire us to make changes. And remind us of what you have done to make us who we are. Every little action, every little word, every little feeling... It all has it's purpose. Wether it affects your life or the people's around you. God, help all my actions, all my words, all my feelings toward others... All glorify YOU. Day 31: my straightener Thank you, Lord, for first creating the man that invented the iron. Then, thank you for creating the man who got his inspiration from the iron, for the straightener. Then, thank you for the man who invented the curling iron. Thank you, finally, for the man who invented the idea of putting a straightener and curling iron together. That man is amazing and I would like to give him a hug! Thanks for creating all of those men! My straightener is pink and is the best thing! It heats up to 410 degrees Fahrenheit in less than 3minutes, straightens, curls, turns off automatically after a half hour, and is super easy to use! It has never burnt me, for that I am grateful! However, it has callused the skin on the left side of my right pointer finger. Thank you for the brilliant men who invented the curler/ straightener. The men's ideas have saved me from buying both a straightener and a curling iron. Plus, they made my life easier. I really like my straightener and the qualities it possesses. Yes, this sound dumb, but it really is a handy tool! For some reason, I find that straightening and curling my hair is very relaxing. Some people like to soak in a hot tub, put on makeup, play a game of chess, or bake something. But I prefer to listen to music and straighten or curl my hair. Thank you, Lord, for caring about hair tools and things that make us happy!

Day 30: sleep Thank you so much for sleep! God, sleep is one of the best things that YOU created. Sleep gives us energy and it is very important to get sufficient amounts of sleep. Lately, I've been taking naps after school. It's amazing to get that extra two hours of sleep in your day. School starts so early, so my sleep isn't very long. But that's my fault. I cannot wait for the day when we are in heaven where there is no darkness, pain, or sleep. It's so weird how there isn't sleep in heaven. We won't need sleep to give us energy. We won't even need to eat to get energy. We'll just eat to eat. And not get fat. That is super exciting! It's amazing to think that nearly everything we do was affected by Adam and Eve's fall in the garden of Eden. The world was perfect. Sin has taken over, but we are strong enough to defeat it with YOUR help and YOURS alone. YOU have blessed us so much. With everything that we need. Too often, we forget that YOU are the one who created everything. That YOU are still holding the world together. That YOU still have our lives figured out. That YOU are always there. That YOU are the one that provides us with everything we need. That YOU care about the little things. Thank you for sleep. Where we can lay there and be peaceful. Where YOU bless us with dreams. There have been so many times where I haven't slept well for long periods of time, but then I realized that YOU were trying to get my attention. That the only time that I was able to hear YOU was when I was alone, quiet, and doing something for me. YOU taught me that I need to center my life around YOU. Not try to fit YOU into my schedule. Day 29: Forgiveness Thank you so much, for forgiveness. It feels so good to let go of things, put them in YOUR hands, ask for forgiveness, forgive, and move on. I feel my entire weekend has been centered around forgiveness. I've heard the same song three times this weekend, speaking to me about trust and forgiveness. I've read the same Bible verse three times this weekend, speaking to me about forgiveness and love. I've felt YOU speak to me in a way I've never heard YOU before. "My chains are gone; I've been set free." For so long I have been strapped down with chains of not trusting, not loving, not forgiving. This weekend, I began eliminating these chains of mine. Day 28: amazing lyrics Thank you so much for inspiring people to write amazing songs of all kinds. Thank you for those moments when YOU speak to us through lyrics. For those songs that relate to my life and talk about exactly what I'm going through. Music influences us. Our opinions, the way we think, the way we speak, and the lyrics get into our hearts. Tonight, I was singing "The Stand" which is one of my favorite worship songs. I love the lyrics. The chorus goes, "So I'll stand, with arms high and heart abandoned. In awe, of the one who gave it all. I'll stand, my soul, Lord, to YOU, surrendered. All I am is YOURS." These lyrics really spoke to me tonight. I haven't been surrendering my entire heart, my entire being, to YOU, God. I'm not trusting YOU. This needs to change, It's wrong. It's really hard to surrender all of who I am to YOU.
